Co-Generation
By generating your own power you can lower your total energy costs. You also gain the security of knowing your business can operate through a power outage.
Once considered an expensive and trouble prone area co-generation has tremendously benefited from new technologies. Today's systems run cleaner, more efficiently, quieter, with less maintenance and at lower costs than ever before. Although the general public still does not know much about these systems they are commonly used in hospitals, large energy intensive facilities, and nursing homes. Co-generation systems offer a lot of value.
Although co-generation can be used to generate electricity, or as an important source of reliable power, they are most cost effective when they are also used to heat and cool a facility. This is because co-generation creates a LOT of heat while generating electricity. If you don't use this heat you're just throwing away a lot of work. This heat is generated whether you use it or not. By capturing this heat and using it to heat or cool (Yes, it sounds odd to know you can cool with heat - but you can!) you are getting so much more value for your investment.
Facilities that would benefit most from co-generation have high electric costs and regular heating or cooling needs. There are many factors that need to be considered before choosing to use co-generation. For more information you should contact our Energy Expert.
